Eco Friendly Coffee

A drop of the Rainforest in every cup

While rewarding the needs of eager coffee drinkers, the family behind La Casa del Caffe have set their hearts on universal concern: the dwindling future of South American rainforests.

Inspired by the work of the Rainforest Alliance – a collective dedicated to protecting fragile ecosystems and the people and wildlife dependent on them by changing the practices of businesses and consumers worldwide – the Sydney-based company began roasting select green Brazilian and Costa Rican beans in 2004 in its specialty Rainforest Blend.

As part of its strategy for sustainable coffee, La Casa has even adopted the Cachalu Biological Reserve in Columbia, with donations resulting in the protection of 50,585sqm of precious rainforest, its amazing wildlife and the communities who work within it.  Farms and producers that meet strict RA guidelines on issues including conservation, labour conditions, community and use of chemicals receive the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal of approval, which La Casa are proud
to carry.

The Rainforest Alliance Seal guarantees that beans are sourced from farms where the environment and wildlife are protected and workers are treated fairly and by drinking our coffee you are helping to protect our precious rainforests, the wildlife that live within them and ensuring that farm families have decent wages, living conditions and access to education and healthcare.

La Casa’s Rainforest Blend is made from 100 percent Rainforest Alliance certified beans, but the Kennedy family is keen to increase La Casa’s contribution to the drive for sustainable coffee. The popularity of the blend, and the rigorous quality of the beans, has encouraged the company to
keep up the good work and is now a significant buyer of Rainforest Alliance certified beans in Australia.

The Rainforest Alliance Certified beans have made their way into La Casa’s full range of premium blends, including traditional Italian and French-style coffees, and the signature Tropicana, named after the famous Darlinghurst café and filmmakers’ den.
